Hungarian Government and Parliament should respect the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights

 

 

The Rainbow Mission Foundation has signed a joint NGO submission, in which we call on the Minister of Justice and Public Administration to withdraw the proposal, which, if adopted by Parliament, would declare that Hungary is not willing to implement the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

The Budapest Pride march is ON!  Organizers are taking further legal action against the Budapest Police Department

We welcome today’s ruling of the Budapest Metropolitan Court, which annuls the banning order against the Budapest Pride march issued by the Budapest Police last week. However, as the Court could not examine the fact that the police clearly violated its equal treatment obligations, we are taking further legal action with the help of the Hungarian Helsinki Committee.

We will not stand by! - Statement by the organizers of Budapest Pride about the proposals submitted by Jobbik

On April 10, 2012, Jobbik representative Ádám Mirkóczki submitted a law proposal and two proposed amendments to the Basic Law of Hungary that would, if accepted, amend the media law, the criminal code, advertising laws, and the Basic Law to make the very existence of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people in Hungary criminal and unlivable. Ádám Mirkóczki is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, Minority, Civic, and Religious Affairs.

Police refuse to grant permission for this year’s Budapest Pride march

The Budapest Police Department has refused to grant permission for this year's Budapest Pride march. The march had been announced for July 7, 2012, with a route from City Park to Alkotmány Street along Andrássy Avenue, by the festival’s organizers, the Rainbow Mission Foundation.
